Sunday the 21st turned on a fantastic day with cool temperatures and a clear sunny day just ideal for the 48 riders who turned out to test themselves against the extended time XC racing format. A 5 km track was set heading out from the trail head to Siberia, back around the tunnel loop, a quick jaunt around the development track and then down the skills area jump line to finish off. The tracks had dried out after the recent rains and proved to be quick and grippy.
There were no individual grades with 39 legends starting the 3 hour solo race with 35 completing the whole 3 hours along with two teams of two and two e-bike entrants. The juniors raced for 1.5 hours, no insignificant achievement either.
Congratulations to Archie Gibson for the outright 3 hour win with 12 laps and Laura Renshaw being the best lady competitor completing 8 laps.
Jason Steele won the 3 hour e-bike category with 10 laps.
Gary Jefferies and Andrew Duck came first in the teams event completing 10 laps
Owen Lane won the 1.5 hour race completing an impressive 5 laps.
To all riders, well done, riding at your best pace for 1.5 or 3 hours is a significant achievement!!!!
For something completely different, the September events will be three, 1 hour night races starting at 6pm on Wednesdays the 7th, 14th and 21st. Charge up your lights and we will see you then.
