Now that the dust has settled and he is back home in Aus, HMBA’s representative on the Australian Junior Team has sent us this email to share his exploits – it all sounds amazing and such a great experience for young Trent:
“I would just like to thank HMBA for all their help and support with a grant for the UCI World Championships held in Les Gets, France.
I wouldn’t have been able to experience what I have without them. Europe was the best experience I have had in my life and I learnt so much and met so many new people.
The riding over there is some of the best in the world just the sheer size of the mountains you can ride there and the steepness is crazy.
Morzine was amazing for like $24 euros you get access to 15 chairlifts across the Portes Du Soleil region which I think has 7 different bike parks and the riding there is next level tracks that are so steep you couldn’t stop if you wanted to.
World Champs was insane I don’t think I will ever experience the again in my life there was around 150,000 people there to watch us compete with everything you could think of to make noise along the side of the track.
I had a few really good splits up the top half of my run then ended up crashing towards the bottom but overall a really fun and amazing experience.
After the Worlds, I then drove to Val Di Sole, Italy for the last World Cup of the season.
The downhill track, which they call The Black Snake, was something else. The track had crazy tree roots that were massive and the holes on the track in some spots were bigger then my front wheel. In juniors, you need to qualify in the top 25 to make the Finals, so it was going to be hard.
In my qualifying run, I saved a few near misses of crashing and made it down to the finish line but didn’t end up qualifying for finals which is a shame but I’m still in juniors next year, so I’m looking forward to hopefully going back over and giving it another go.
Thanks,
Trent“
