With rain over night & light showers into the morning, Awaba’s “Monkey” Downhill was prime & ready for racing.
The cooler temperature made for perfect riding conditions.
After Rick’s riders briefing, bikes loaded, super keen riders where ready to ride.
It was great to see a lot of new faces, many of which had never ridden “Monkey” before.
Practice finished, 12 o’clock Race Runs started off with A grade, U17 & Women hitting the trail first, followed by B Grade, U15 & U13.
Run 1, complete
Over all U15’s Garigal Gorillas Brock Adams had the fastest time – 4:00.314.
Followed by A grade’s Woolgoolga’s Oliver Schmidt – 4:09.052
& U17’s Garigal Gorillas Braden McDougall – 4:18.017.
Run 2
All riders opted for a second timed run.
Bettering his time U15’s Brock Adams put down a – 3:58.903
also putting down a faster time U17’s Braden McDougall – 4:16.370
next fastest A Grade’s Oliver Schmidt – 4:20.763.
With racing completed, event results processed.
No surprise U15’s Brock Adams breaking the 4 minute, conquered the Monkey in – 3:58.903. Congratulations Brock.
Fastest Women
Katarina Carlsson HMBA with a nice quick 4:32.239. Congrates Kat.
It was awesome to see so many junior’s taking on the “Monkey”. At the finish frothing over the track, the banter watching the times tick over on the results screen waiting for their mate to finish to see who had the fastest time, “GOLD”
A special mention to the U13 brothers Coda & Halen Tyas, Wow these boys pushed hard to take the U13’s top step.
After the first run Halen was in front by the tightest of margins.
Halen – 4:53.795,
Coda – 4:53.877
Run 2, Both boys really stepped up, putting down much faster times, wow.
Coda this time – 4:46.137 taking the U13’s Win,
Halen – 4:48.458 not far behind, Until next time!
